Arundika leaves Ranil, opts to function as independent MP

SLPP Puttalam District MP and State Minister of Urban Development and Housing Arundika Fernando announced yesterday that he would function as an independent MP in Parliament hereafter. He said he had previously supported President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Making a special statement with the permission of the Chair, Fernando called for a concerted effort to defeat what he called destructive forces.

“As an independent MP I will talk to all to form a common front to save this country and people from imminent danger. There is an unholy group that makes use of social media to brainwash the youth. They will lead this country towards destruction.

“Due to two insurgencies in this country in 1971 and 1989, especially in 1989, over 60,000 young people had perished.
