The annual festival at the historic Roman Catholic church, Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu is scheduled to begin with flag hoisting on August 6 and conclude with the grand festival on August 15. This decision was made during a discussion held at the Mannar District Office, led by Mannar District Secretary K. Kanakeswaran and Bishop of Mannar Dr. Emmanuel Fernando.
This year’s festival is expected to attract more than 500,000 devotees. To accommodate the large number of attendees, arrangements are being made to provide potable water, sanitation facilities, food, and medical services. The security and administrative teams in Mannar have been organized to manage these arrangements effectively.
Additionally, it has been requested that the food served in the temporary kitchens set up on the temple grounds be continuously inspected. Health officials and public health inspectors from Mannar are preparing to ensure these standards are met.
