The Foreign Ministry said that of the 29 Sri Lankans who suffered injuries in an accident last Wednesday (09) in Istanbul, Turkey, 20 had been discharged from hospitals on the same day.
The group, employed on a development project at the Istanbul airport, was returning after work when the Turkish driver lost control of the vehicle and plunged down a six-metre precipice.
The Foreign Ministry said on Saturday (12) nine continued to receive treatment at hospitals and the Mission was in constant touch with Turkish authorities regarding the condition of the injured.
At the time of the accident, there were altogether 39 Sri Lankans travelling in the ill-fated bus. The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau said that all were documented workers.
