… submits seven page legal objection
Former Attorney General Dappula De Livera did not turn up at the Terrorist Investigation Division yesterday morning although he had been summoned. Instead, he was represented by a lawyer.
Attorney-at-Law Dimitra Abeysekera, who represented the former AG, told the media that he had submitted a seven-page legal objection to the TID.
“The seven page document is a legal objection and there is no need to record a statement from a former Attorney General on the matter as the incumbent Attorney General has already served indictments,” Attorney-at-Law Abeysekera said.
Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa earlier said that De Livera had been summoned to record a statement on a comment he made over the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.
On May 17, 2021, de Livera, as the Attorney General, said that there had been a grand conspiracy behind the Easter Sunday terror attack. He said that information gathered by the State Intelligence Service with times, targets, places, method of attacks and other information was clear evidence of a conspiracy.
