Nikil scores second consecutive century

A century by Richmond College batsman Nikil Jayaweera was the day’s highlight in the Under 19 Division I cricket tournament matches on Friday.

It was Jayaweera’s second consecutive century as the top order batsman came to the rescue of the team in the match against St. Benedict’s at Kotahena.

Richmond were 88 for six wickets at one stage but Jayaweera held their batting together to post 220 runs.

Jayaweera made a similar contribution in the match against St. Anthony’s two days ago.

At Colts ground, Lumbini scored first innings points against S. Thomas’ as Sri Lanka Under 19 spinner returning from Under 19 Asia cup duty picked up five wickets to restrict the visitors to 175 runs.

The Tier ‘B’ match between Isipathana and Devapathiraja ended in a no decision at Weeraketiya.
