The SJB says that President Ranil Wickremesinghe is trying to abolish the executive presidency because he is fully convinced that he would never be able to win a presidential election.
Addressing the media at the Opposition Leader’s Office in Colombo yesterday, SJB Colombo District MP S.M. Marikkar said that the President had got some of his crony civil society outfits to promote the idea that time had come for the abolition of the executive presidency.
“Wickremesinghe has savoured the powers vested in the executive presidency, and now he knows that he won’t be able to retain it. He is a person who would not hold elections if he thinks he cannot win them.
