Business tycoon and SLPP MP Dhammika Perera on Friday said he was ready to contest the forthcoming Presidential Election if the SLPP wants him to run.
Perera said so at the inauguration of the SLPP’s Centre for Professionals in the presence of SLPP National Organiser MP Namal Rajapaksa.
“I am prepared to contest the Presidential Election. I await the decision of the country’s biggest political party on its candidate. I await their decision while continuing to work towards my victory,” he said.
Perera said his main focus is on developing the economy and that he is currently formulating an economic programme.
“Many political parties have campaigned for nearly two years, yet none have presented a clear plan for economic development. With only 90 days remaining, it is imperative to outline a comprehensive economic strategy to earn the confidence of the population,” he said.
